Watch Box

The Hamilton 992B with the new Elinvar movement first came into production June 27, 1940. All 992’s were placed in this new style box beginning 11/11/40. The plastic box was lined with a blue velvet pad in its base that could easily be removed. A ribbon, as shown in the photo to the right, passed through the bow of the watch to hold it in place. It was common for people to remove the velvet liner and use the box to hold a pack of cigarettes because it was a perfect fit. There are about 15 different basic colors and some colors such as blue and green have both a light and dark version. Shown here are a few nice examples.
