The Philadelphia Watch company was established in 1868. Eugene Paulus was the founder of the company. The company is responsible for creating a minute amount of private label watches that are now very rare and considered incredibly valuable to pocket watch collectors.
Though responsible for the creation of these rare pocket watches, the company did not manufacture their own parts; rather they imported them from Switzerland and put the movements together in the United States. Even at the time, the company’s watches were considered top of the line and only about 12,000 pieces were completed while the company was in business.
