The Manhattan Watch Company was founded in 1883 by former manager of the Jerome Clock Company, A.O. Jennings. The factory was housed in a six story building located at 158 Monroe Street in New York City.
The company not only manufactured the movements, but cased their watches on site. This made the company unique for its time in that it was one of the first and only companies at this point in history that sold complete pocket watches. The company was also known for the fact that they only produced low priced pocket watches.
